We are off to the Pumpkin Patch for a fun morning of Fall Activities!! Please notice the time...our assigned time slot is 11am. Camp Lakeside is a ways out of Evans on Washington Road, so it will take a little bit to get there...carpooling might be a great option! It is Camp Lakeside's 5th Annual Pumpkin Patch, where our kids will enjoy a hayride, story time, see a apple cider press, do some arts and crafts, pick a pumpkin and have a hot dog lunch. We are asked to bring along an apple if we want to make apple cider in the press...and don't forget your cameras! :) The cost is $6.50 per child. They said since our children were all around 3 yrs. old or younger that we would only be charged $6.50 per child (moms free)...as long as we only picked one pumpkin per family. If you will be bringing more than one child and they both want to pick a pumpkin, there will be a charge of another $6.50. We'll enjoy hanging out and having the kids play for a while in the morning...then we'll enjoy a potluck lunch before we all go home! When you RSVP, just tell us what you'd like to bring...we can be creative with the FALL theme for the kids! If you'd like to bring some mommy food, that is great too! Plates, napkins and silverware will be provided. Hey gang- This is a local favorite! We'll meet at the entrance on Dibble Road in the parking lot. If you are coming from downtown Augusta, travel Aiken-Augusta Highway into Aiken. (do not go downtown!) As you come down the hill on Aiken-Augusta highway into Aiken, you'll see a car dealership on your left, a gas station on your right, and traffic light straight ahead. Turn left onto hitchcock parkway. Travel Approx 1/2 mile and you'll see Dibble road on the left and a nursery across the street. Turn left onto dibble road. Approx 1/2 mile -mile down the road on the right is the entrance to Hitchcock woods. Hitchcock Woods has miles and miles of trails. If you haven't been here before- you'll love it!! Our book for October is "Persuasion" by Jane Austen Persuasion was written when Austen started getting an illness that caused her death. It is shorter and supposedly less polished than her other stories. The title comes from the fact the main character Anne Elliiot is persuaded to give up the man she has fallen in love with because her family feels he is beneath her social standing. Hey everyone! Want a challenge?? Well, here you go! What better way to celebrate Valentines day than to help your own heart! Myrtle Beach is holding a marathon expo the weekend of Feb 14th. They have several activities going on this weekend. How about joining in on the 1/2 marathon? You can walk or run! (I will be walking- but you can run if you prefer!) For those of you who may not be sure what a 1/2 marathon is- it means you run/walk for 13.1 miles. You can run/walk but must be finished within 4 hrs. Each person will be responsible for their own registration and fees. If you click on the link below, you can read more information about the event and pre-register. Those interested, (I'm guessing this will be a small group) we can travel together Friday afternoon/evening and we can arrange for a hotel stay. We'll make a weekend out of it!
