Go Sailing on a Catalina 27 at Elephant Butte This is a 1980 Catalina 27 fiberglass sailboat, AS IS. This is one of the most popular sailboats ever built by Catalina and is well suited to inshore and offshore sailing. Currently the boat is and has been berthed at Marina Del Sur at Elephant Butte Lake, New Mexico for about 12 years (that’s where I bought it). The powerplant is an Atomic 4, four cylinder 30 hp gasoline engine with low hours (approx. 80) since I installed the hour meter about 10 years ago. SAILS. The sail inventory includes the original main, a 110% genoa on a Harken furler/reefing system, a spare jib, and a very colorful full spinnaker (not asymmetrical). The spinnaker pole is stowed on the starboard deck. Also included is an Autohelm 300 self-steering system (not used much) that is ready to work with the Edson pedestal wheel.
